The Ottoman Empire has been such an inspiration to me, many patterns associated with this era lend themselves so well to interior decorations. Ottoman pattern is very striking in the strong colours but subtle in the softer colours. The design really creates a good atmosphere in a room and looks fabulous for most uses like curtains to upholstery. I have created it using two colours which is relaxing to look at and the softer versions in tones of one colour. I think when designing fabrics for interiors you really have to reduce the colours down to a minimum, there are always show stopper fabric designs which want to be centre stage and that is fine too but to help mix and match patterns together a smaller number of colours used helps in this process. I have the Ottoman edge red fabric as my bedroom curtains, I love them and they always make me happy when I draw the curtains back every morning.
