FAQ
We do not hold stock, everything is printed to order for you.
Message posted 30th June 2025
UPDATE Wallpaper is delayed and the lead time is 3 weeks, this is for a short time while the printers expand into a new factory, they have a few bottle necks at the moment so things are taking long than normal. If you only want 1 or 2 rolls, please email us because we might have some in stock, it is a long shot but worth asking us.
Fabric is running smoothly at the moment
Normally the lead times are:
Fabric is 10-14 days
Wallpaper is 14 days
International lead times are 14-21 days
Sometimes the printers are quicker than the lead times, we try to get everything out as quickly as possible.
Lead times depend on how busy the printers are and we update our lead times accordingly.
Christmas and New Year is a longer lead time because the printers take 2 weeks off over the holidays. If you want delivery before Christmas please check with us the last orders date. It can take them some time to get going after the holidays, this is why things can take a little longer around this time.
It does take time to print our products and you are ordering a bespoke product printed to your requirements. We do not have stock everything is printed to order.
All products are sent via tracked courier
We understand that is might be misleading showing the prices of our products EX VAT on the product for UK customers. VAT is added at the check out. We have added wording under the price for UK customers, tell them that VAT will be added to their order.
The reason for this is the website is set up for international sales. The EU and ROW do not have to pay VAT when they purchase from us. Our website shopping system, Shopify does not know where you are from until you start typing your address. Once it sees that you are from the UK then it will add in the VAT. We cannot show the prices including VAT on the website because the shopping system does not know where you are from when you are browsing. We have tried to find a solution but it would mean we would have to cut international sales and only sell to the UK.
After we have sent in your order to the printers, the delivery is out of our control because we do not know when the printers are printing your order or when exactly they will send it. This is why we can only give you a lead time. We have been working with our printers for over 10 years and they are very reliable and dedicated to get the orders out as quickly as possible. It is not an instant product and there are quite a few processes involved to produce the printed fabric.
We apologise but we cannot give exact delivery times.
When your order is ready the printers will send you a tracking email which means the fabric will be delivered the next day. The quickest way to have your order delivered is if the printers sent it straight to you directly. All the wallpaper is delivered to us and we send it to you via fast courier.
All our fabrics and wallpapers are printed to order. This means we do not hold any stock and we do not have any wastage. We could not offer the choice we do if we had a stock.
With todays technology fabrics and wallpapers are freshly printed at the correct amount for the customer. When we order the fabric and wallpaper from the printers it goes through quite a few processes and it is not an instant product.
We have been working with our printers for 10 years and we have a fantastic relationship with them. They have the most up to date technology. Digital printing will be the main way to print textiles in the future because there is little or no waste.
Everything we sell is 100% British.
All the fabrics and wallpapers are designed by Charlotte Gaisford who is based in the north-east of the UK. The printers are all based in the north-west of the UK.
The base cloth is manufactured, woven and finished in the north-west of the UK.
You are buying a truly British product.
We do not sell the fabric in 0.5m increments anymore online. If you need to buy the fabric in 0.5m increments please email us and we can email you an invoice. You can pay with a card from the invoice.
We have tried to sell the fabric in half metre increments but it over complicated Shopify, the shopping system we use and it created thousands of products from one product, this has been difficult to manage so we have had to just sell whole metres.
Fabric is one metre per pattern, we can only order in 50cm increments after that.
Our printers dictate our minimum order and they will not print less than one metre of fabric.
Trade customers 2 rolls is the minimum, this is because the printers print the wallpaper in pairs so we have to order in pairs ourselves. If you just want one roll it would be better to buy it at the retail price.
Discontinued wallpaper minimum order is 2 rolls. This is because the printers print in pairs. We always order in pairs and any spare rolls we use for our sampling. If you would like to have a discontinued wallpaper printed then you would need to order in even numbers because we do not need extra rolls for ourselves for sampling because it is not officially available anymore.
Samples are available on the website to purchase. Please allow 3-4 days for samples to arrive, we do send them Royal Mail first class tracked. International samples orders are also sent via Royal Mail and are tracked.
We send very generous sizes samples.
Wallpaper samples are the whole width 52cm x 50cm
Fabric samples of the large scale patterns are 33cm x 27cm
Fabric samples of the smaller scale patterns are 22cm x 21cm
We are sorry but we do not offer returnable samples. We used to make and send returnable samples but we never got them back. We didn't like the negativity of policing this service.
Our samples are always freshly printed so we don't hold a large stock, the samples you receive will be the same as the fabric that you order. All the fabric is digitally printed so the colours come out exactly the same and this type of printing is very accurate.
Sometimes there might be a change of batch of base cloth which can change the colours very slightly. We very rarely have any problems and the digital technology is improving all the time. Our printers invest a great deal in the latest digital printing machines.
Our printers are a very well established printing house and they also print for other established fabric designers. They strive for consistency with the printing and the base cloth because they understand the importance of accurate colours.
You are welcome to double check a sample if you have had a sample for over 12 months. Send us an email and tell us you want to order and we can send you an up to date sample FOC.
For our US customers the fabric is sold in metres which is 39 inches, slightly longer than a yard. Click on the metre button on the product pages to see the prices.
We only offer a certain amount of products at any one time. If you have a sample or have seen a sample of the product you would like we can always have it printed for you.
We and the printers have all the digital files of all the fabrics and wallpapers we have ever offered so it is possible to have anything printed, even if it has been discontinued.
The minimum order for fabric is 1m
If you are wanting wallpaper we have to print in pairs so you need to order in even numbers.
If you are a trade customer, you need to have a trade account before we can send you free samples. Please go to the trade account page for more information about opening an account.
If you are in a hurry for your fabric, we can offer a fast track service. This costs £100 plus vat per order. We only charge what the printer charges us. You are put to the front of the queue and the fabric is printed in three days. If you would like this service please email us before you order.
When you order fabric and wallpaper you are ordering a bespoke product which is printed just for you. We do not hold any stock of any form.
When we receive your order we send a purchase order to the printers, we double check your order by asking you to check what we have sent to the printers. This helps avoid mistakes and we can change anything at this stage. We ask you to check what you have ordered, pattern, colour, quantity and delivery address. Once the purchase order has been sent to the printers it can be harder to make any changes. It is not impossible but any changes should be made within 24 hours of the order being sent to the printer.
Delivery addresses can be changed at any time and this is not a problem.
After 24 hours of your order being sent to the printers we cannot cancel your order. Once the printers receive the orders they start the printing processes. We do not know at what stage your order will be at, but it would be impossible to cancel once these processes have commenced.
All products can be ordered online via the website. If you would like us to process a manual order please get in contact with us and we can email you an invoice. There is a link on the invoice to pay with a card or you can pay using BACS, all our bank details can be found on the invoice.
We can sell our products all over the world, if you are looking at the website you should be able to see the prices of the products in your own currency.
We accept all major credit cards
We have set shipping fees depending how much of the product you want to buy.
If you are from the EU,USA of ROW we do not add any taxes to the product prices but you will have to pay tax when it enters your country.
Please contact us if you would like more information.
If you are interested in a trade account you need to email us with your website address and any other information to show us you are an interiors professional.
Everything is printed to order so takes about 14 days to come back to Charlotte Gaisford. We then send your order by tracked courier. You will be sent the tracking information when your order is shipped.
We are represented in Showrooms in Dallas, Atlanta and West Palm Beach. If you are based within these areas we cannot give you a trade account. Please send us an email and we can give you our US showrooms contact details.
If you are asking us to ship direct to a third party, we would kindly ask you to double check they have been sent the correct fabric, colour, quantity. There shouldn't be a problem because we do ask you to check the order we have sent to the printers. Very very rarely the printers might make a mistake, so it is a good idea to make sure your third party have the correct fabric, wallpaper.
If you are sending to a third party we kindly ask you to check you have given us the correct delivery address. If the fabric or wallpaper is not delivered it is very often sent back to us or the printers and we have to pay the shipping cost again.
We very rarely have any problems and the digital tehnology is improving all the time.
All the base cloth we use for the fabric is 100% natural and with this there can be some natural irregularities in the base cloth. They are rare and very small and will not usually cause a problem. We cannot class these irregularities as a printing fault.
The base cloth can change slightly between batches. The printer buy 1000s of metre of base cloth at any one time. If you have had a sample for over 12 months, please email us when you want to order and we can send you an up to date sample FOC. We only have small batches of samples made so we always have a fresh supply of samples from the current base cloth. The printers use British suppliers of the base cloth, the yarn is weaved and finished in the North-West of England. The printers are very conscious that they make sure they have 100% consistency between batches.
Returns and refunds FABRIC
Because the fabric is a bespoke product and it is ordered especially for you, it is difficult to offer you a refund once it has gone to the printers. But we do offer a window for you to change your mind. Once the fabric order has gone to the printers we can give 24 hours to change your mind. We do send you an email to ask you to check your order and at this stage we can change anything on your order, Once it has gone to the printer they will put it into work and we cannot offer a return. The fabric goes through quite a few processes and this is why we have a lead time to have the fabric printed.
Faults
In the very unlikely event you find you have faulty fabric, please contact us straight away. Send us a photo of the problem and we will pass this onto the printers. We will collect the faulty fabric and send it to the printers to inspect. We often have to see the fault in reality to see what the problem is. Faults are very rare and the printers like to see the problem in case it is something more serious and ongoing. Once they have seen the fabric we can organise to have some more fabric printed for you.
We cannot replace any faulty fabric if you have cut or made up the fabric. We do ask you to inspect the fabric before you cut it.
Refunds and returns WALLPAPER
All the wallpaper is a bespoke product and is printed for you, we do not hold any stock.
Once your order has been sent to the printers it is very difficult to cancel your order. We do offer a 24 hour cooling off period after you have ordered, where we can cancel the order. We are sorry but after 24 hours your order will be in the printer's systems and we cannot cancel or give you a refund.
All the wallpaper is printed for you and we can accept unused rolls but you need to return these within 2 months of your order. We do ask you to make sure that you have calculated the correct number of rolls you need. More often than not people do not order enough wallpaper rolls. We use an online wallpaper calculator to see how much you need. We can help you with this but we can't guarantee the results because we can't see the room you are decorating. There are lots of resources online to help you measure for the correct amount of wallpaper, Google, Youtube.
Faults
We never have faults with the wallpaper, we have been selling our wallpaper for over 10 years and there may have been 2 faults in that time. If you do find a fault, please email us straight away and if you can send us a photo of the fault this would be a great help. We can contact the printers and we can pick up the faulty paper and send it to the printers to inspect.
We are not trained interior designers, but we do like to try and help where we can. If you would like some guidance, please send us a photo of your project. We can’t give you a full room scheme and we don’t know every paint colour which matches the fabrics and wallpaper. If you ask us a few questions we can point you in the right direction. In some cases, we have been sent photo after photo of rooms with customers wanting to give them full room fabric scheme ideas, I am afraid we can’t really offer this service because it is time consuming and hard to know what is needed when we haven’t met the customer and not been able to gauge their style. We do not charge for advice, and we will help you as much as we can within reason. Charlotte will be the one you are dealing with and if you can give her as much information as possible of your project or if you already have some samples then that is a great starting point. If you are needing more than we can advise on, then we would suggest you ask a trained professional interior designer to help you. Charlotte can also do zoom and FaceTime which is a great way of seeing what you have, and it gives Charlotte a chance to get to know you.
Our fabric is only suitable for light upholstery, for example an occasional bedroom chair and headboard. We cannot guarantee it for heavy use upholstery because the fabric is dry clean only and cannot be wiped with a damp cloth. It is not a good idea to use the fabric for upholstery if it will be near pets, small children and food.
Another reason we cannot recommend our fabric for heavy use upholstery is because we cannot provide a Martindale rub test. This is because the fabric is digitally printed and we would have to provide a separate test for each pattern, it depends how much ink is on the surface, so it makes it impossible for use to provide this information.
The fabric is not fireproof by default and it is not a fire hazard because it is 100% natural fibre. Usually, designers organise to have the fabric treated by a specialist company. If you are a designer and you arrange to have a treatment, we can send it direct to the FR company. If you are wanting to use the fabric for light upholstery and using a company like The Headboard Workshop, they advise using an FR liner under the fabric. It can be the case that the fabric will change colour after it has had an FR treatment so using a liner is a simple solution for this not to happen.
Every product has its own page on the website which gives you all the information you need about the fabric or wallpaper including the repeat.
All the fabric is dry clean only and cannot be put in a domestic washing machine or tumble dryer. Please do not wipe the fabric with a damp cloth or scrub the surface.
Yes you can buy all our products online via the website or send us an email of what you would like and we can send you an invoice where you can pay with a card.
No, we only print what we sell so we never have any spare fabrics for sale. We don't believe in textile waste and we do not want to contribute to the textile waste mountain.
The wallpaper is all ‘paste the wall’ wallpaper and you can use any type of paste to attach it to the wall.
You need to look at an online calculator which will help you work out how much wallpaper you will need
The information you need is
The width of the roll 52cm
the length of the roll 10m
What type of repeat the wallpaper is, for example, half drop or straight
The width of your wall
The height of your wall
You need to calculate for each wall, and you will find out how many rolls you will need.
This is very important to us and all our products are 100% natural. We are careful with all our sampling, and we make sure that nothing is wasted and sent to landfill. We recycle all our packaging, boxes and recycle our plastic tubing. As soon as we find an alternative/waterproof method to send rolls of fabric we will use this method.
We can offer this service and it is free of charge, please mention you would like it when you order. This method is great if you have headboards, valances or wide blinds. This service is FOC just send us a message if you would like to have this service.
