Lucky Fortune rose
Lucky Fortune is a pretty small to medium scaled print which includes the handprinted artwork I used to create Where’s Cocky. The Original artwork is quite large and painted in Gouache paints in every bright greens and reds. I find when I paint not to never worry too much about the colours I am using because they are all changed when I start developing the designs. I try to stick to a strict colour palette of only a few colours. When I design a collection it is quite large and then when I live with it for a while I see which colours are the most popular. Often I reduce the size of the collection down a few months after its first release. The original painting has been reduced down to two colours on Lucky Fortune design. It would have looked like wrapping paper if I had stuck to the original colours, too many colours in this sort of repeat design is very distracting and not very calming for an interiors theme. The best way to mix colours is to mix the different fabrics together, that is why I show lots of cushions because I have designed the collections so they can be mixed and matched together within the colour palettes.
